Savannah Fire Station 9 provides emergency fire response services to Savannah's east side.
A mixture of residential and industrial areas, Staion 9 has experienced a number of large scale incidents - including Powell-Duffryn in 1995 which gave birth to the City's Hazardous Materials Response Team.
Station 9 serves as the home station for Engine 9, as well as administrative offices for the Training Division.
The station has classrooms capable of accommodating the crews of several companies.
Engine 9 has a long history of serving the citizens of the East side of Savannah. The new station was occupied in 2008 after the station at Capital and Pennsylvania became antiquated.
Not only was the station too small to house modern fire apparatus, it had apparently developed mold issues.
The station pictured to the left, is Old Station 9. You can see why the firefighters were happy to move into the larger and more comfortable station. Like all old firefighters, apparatus, and stations Old Station 9 had done its duty as well as it could for as long as it could.
Tell the world how great Station 9 and the firefighters there really are. No time for modesty - Share it!
