Savannah Fire and Emergency Services is a modern day fire department with a long and rich history. Serving Savannah since the 1850s, Savannah Fire has undergone innumerable changes. Steeped in tradition and looking to the future, the Department has managed to maintain time honored traditions that place a high value on quality service to the public and personal sacrifice, all the while growing to meet the ever changing needs of public safety's role in today's environment.

The Savannah firefighter of today receives training in basic firefighting core competencies as well as hazardous material mitigation, vehicle extrication, medical first responder, technical rescue. Each day brings forth challenges for which the professional firefighter must constantly be prepared.
